Anthropic published eight months of what people were caught doing with Claude, and it's the wildest thing you'll read this week. Amazon is digitally reshaping actors' mouths so dubbing stops looking fake, and a lab in San Francisco pointed a genome model at a tumor and got a vaccine design out the other end.

DeepSeek released V4.1 Flash, and the weights and the technical report are sitting on Hugging Face for anyone to download.
It has 552 billion parameters but only runs 8 billion of them to read your prompt and 16 billion to write the answer. That's why it's cheap.
DeepSWE, the software engineering test: 74.2 against Opus 5's 74.0.
Automation-Bench: 54.8 against Opus 5's 50.3.
CyberGym, the security one: 88.1 against GPT-5.6 Sol's 84.5.
Opus 5 still wins where knowledge matters. On HLE it scores 56.3 and Flash gets 36.8.
Opus 5 costs $25 per million output tokens. Flash costs $0.60 off-peak, which is 40 times cheaper for work it does about as well.
DeepSeek is so confident it's retiring its own premium tier. From Sunday every request to V4-Pro gets sent to Flash instead, at Flash prices.

Anthropic published everything people did with Claude
Anthropic released the biggest threat report it's ever written, eight months of people caught misusing Claude. It says it shut down every operation in it.
A Russian espionage group pointed Claude at its own malware. When a security product caught one of their tools, agents rewrote it until it went undetected and pushed it back out. More than 20 targets, mostly Ukrainian government and drone suppliers.
One consultant in Mali used Claude as his entire engineering team to build a surveillance platform for the state intelligence service, covering roughly 25 million SIM cards. It runs on their own hardware, so banning the account doesn't switch it off.
A China-based studio ran more than 20 dating apps where 4,700 AI personas talked to 25,000 real people, 2.36 million messages in two weeks. Real gig workers stepped in when someone asked for a video call.
Six weapons programs, including a cell in Yemen building a guided rocket and a ballistic missile. They test-fired one, it failed, and they came back to Claude to work out why.
Alibaba ran 151 million exchanges through 3,500 fake accounts to train Qwen. DeepSeek and Moonshot quietly forwarded their own users' questions to Claude, which dumped live credentials for a Russian government database into Anthropic's logs.

Prime Video uses AI to change actors' mouths in real time
Amazon switched on AI lip-syncing for Maxton Hall, its most-watched international show ever. The actors are German. The audio is English. Their mouths now move in English.
Human actors still record the dub. AI and VFX then reshape the original actors' lips to match what the dub says, so the mouths stop moving after the line ends.
It's live now on Seasons 1 and 2 in English worldwide, and the final season ships December 9 with it built in. Amazon says more titles are coming.
Raf Soltanovich, who runs technology for Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, says it's done under creative oversight so the director's vision survives.

An AI designed a cancer vaccine from one tumor
A cancer vaccine is personal. You sequence someone's tumor, find the mutations their healthy cells don't have, and teach their immune system to hunt those.
The hard part is picking which mutations. A tumor throws up hundreds and the vaccine has room for about five.
Radical Numerics pointed its genome model Omnii at that problem and published the results on Tuesday.
Two predictions decide everything. Will the tumor display this mutation, and will a T cell attack it once it does.
On the second one, the hard one, Omnii scores 0.750 where the specialized tools score 0.558 and 0.514.
Give it 100 candidates and five slots and it picks 1.3 that actually work. The best existing tool picks 0.7. Random picks 0.3.
It also writes the mRNA sequence at the end, so the model isn't finding the medicine, it is the medicine.
Moderna and Merck's personalized melanoma vaccine passed Phase 3 last month, the first one ever to do it. That took one cancer. There are more than a hundred others.
