Welcome back! Google will make schools choose between AI and Google Search. Thousands of Lovable apps left passports and chat messages open to strangers. Your Apple Watch can now replay what people just said, and ChatGPT wants to talk about your bank account.
In today's Generative AI Newsletter:
Google: Why are schools about to lose Google Search?
Lovable: Whose passports were sitting in the open?
Apple: What did your Apple Watch just hear?
ChatGPT: Can ChatGPT tell you where your paycheck went?
Google bans kids from searching

Schools that don't want AI in class are about to lose Google Search too.
Starting early next year, Gemini and Google Search will be switched off for K-12 student accounts until the school's admins turn them on.
They only come as a pair. Google's head of education told The New York Times that Search and AI are now so tied together that schools can't keep one and drop the other. Kinda forcing schools that don’t want AI to keep using it, or lose the best search engine there is.
Students at schools that keep AI off will see a message that Search is unavailable.
Google is also testing Guided Learning in Search, which walks students through homework step by step, starting with some US schools this month.
It only covers accounts the school manages, so homework on Mom's laptop still gets Google.
Google says schools will get the details in the coming months.
This Nvidia-partner startup is quietly taking over AI distribution, and it's still early

Building an AI product is easy now. Getting it in front of buyers is the hard part.
Companies like Nvidia, Oracle and Notion come to us to show their products to millions. We productized that knowledge to create a market-leading GTM app called ToneUp.
Revenue grew 2.5x last year. You can invest at an early shareholder price starting from $1,000 with up to 20% bonus shares.
In making an investment decision, investors must rely on their own examination of the issuer and the terms of the offering, including the merits and risks involved. Genai Works, Inc. has filed a Form C with the Securities and Exchange Commission in connection with its offering, a copy of which may be obtained here.
Lovable websites got compromised

Researchers found passport numbers and 200,000 chat messages sitting in apps built with Lovable, readable without even logging in.
Hamburg security firm Crissy Field checked 159,041 of those apps with the German business paper Handelsblatt.
On 7,403 sites, it could read records with people's email addresses.
The data was open because the apps' databases were missing the rules that keep strangers out. Lovable is built for people who can't code, and an app looks fine even when anyone can read what's inside.
One service provider left more than 1,000 passport records open, with expiration dates and nationalities.
Event organizers and restaurants left tens of thousands of orders open, some with payment details.
Lovable's head of security told Handelsblatt it's a known problem across the industry and that security is a shared responsibility.
Crissy Field says it couldn't tell whether anyone misused the data.
Apple Watch gets a nosey AI

Your Apple Watch now listens to everything and can replay the last 15 seconds of a conversation as text on your wrist.
It's called Live Rewind, and Apple just put it in beta for the Series 12 and Ultra 4. You double-press the crown and get what was said, like the directions you half caught.
Siri Recaps goes further. It listens in the background and sums up your conversations with the dates and deadlines that came up.
Live Rewind plays a chime and shows a mic icon, even on silent, so the other person knows.
Apple hasn't described any warning for Siri Recaps, and a privacy expert says the watch turns wearers into walking wiretaps.
Apple says the raw audio is never stored, and recaps you don't keep delete after 7 days. Believing the is up to you.
Summaries skip sensitive stuff like ID numbers and login details.
It needs an iPhone 16 or newer and won't launch in the EU at first.
Apple hasn't said when everyone gets it.
ChatGPT finance gets a voice

More than 200 million people already ask ChatGPT about money every month, OpenAI says. Now they can do it out loud.
Connect your bank accounts in Finances, turn on Voice and ask where your paycheck went. ChatGPT answers from your real transactions.
OpenAI showed it off on Tuesday, and it works in the US on every plan from Free to Pro.
It links to more than 12,000 banks and brokerages through Plaid, and it can track your Experian credit score too.
It can't move money or make trades.
It remembers goals you mention, like saving for a car.
Disconnect it and OpenAI says your synced data gets deleted within 30 days.
The head of the Identity Theft Resource Center has warned people against linking bank accounts to any AI for now.
Tool of the Day: OpenArt

OpenArt puts more than 100 AI models in one studio, including Kling 4 and Nano Banana 2.1. Its Director Mode makes a whole short film or product ad from a chat with you. You can use it from inside ChatGPT or Claude. New accounts get free credits to start.
Try this yourself:
Go to openart.ai and sign up to grab your free credits.
Open Director Mode and pick a Quick Start like Product Ads or Music Video.
Describe your idea in the chat and let it build the video.
Run the finished clip through IP Safety Check before you post.
Who it's for: creators and small brands who want ads and short films without a film crew.
Everything else you shouldn't miss
Goldman took Claude Code away from its bankers: only its engineers keep it now, months after its tech boss praised traders for vibe coding, Bloomberg reports.
Anthropic says self-improving AI may be close: its updated IPO filing says it may soon hit its own threshold for AI speeding up AI research, though no current model has crossed it.
Anthropic made $17 billion in three months: the same filing shows about $895 billion in compute and infrastructure commitments.
Two Claudes probably did all the flirting: a couple found out they'd both used Claude to write their messages, as a Match survey says 66% of Gen Z singles in the UK have used AI for dating.
