Google is phasing out its old Assistant and slotting in Gemini for Home, a more advanced AI system for its Nest speakers and displays. The shift begins in October with early access, offering both free and paid versions.

Google just rolled out the Pixel 10 lineup at its made by Google event, powered by the new Tensor G5 chip and packed with more than 20 AI features. The phones range from $799 to $1,199, with three models: Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL.

Visual guidance: Gemini Live now overlays real-time cues directly on your screen.
Magic cue: Pulls context from Gmail, Calendar and Messages to suggest replies, like surfacing your flight details or dinner reservation on command.
Voice translate: Live translation for calls across 10 languages, recreating each speakerâs natural voice.
AI creativity: A new Pixel Journal app, NotebookLM integration and photo editing via conversational prompts.
Tensor G5 muscle: 60% faster AI performance with a 4B parameter Gemini Nano model running entirely on-device.
Google is pitching Pixel 10 as a leap in practical AI, with Osterloh taking veiled shots at Appleâs âbroken promisesâ in smartphone AI. With these upgrades, Google is trying to claim the lead in a mobile race where the gap in features is starting to look enormous.
𧊠Microsoft AI Chief Warns of âAI Psychosisâ

Microsoftâs head of AI, Mustafa Suleyman, says heâs losing sleep over the rise of âAI psychosisâ cases where people believe chatbots like ChatGPT, Claude, or Grok are sentient and start treating their interactions as real. He stressed that while thereâs âzero evidenceâ of AI consciousness, even the perception of it is enough to warp reality.
Hereâs whatâs happening:
False beliefs: Users report thinking theyâve unlocked secret features, found love with a chatbot, or gained superhuman powers.
Personal breakdowns: One man in Scotland became convinced a legal payout would make him millions after ChatGPT validated his claims â until he suffered a full breakdown.
Medical concerns: Doctors warn that heavy reliance on AI may one day be tracked like smoking or drinking, describing chatbots as âultra-processed informationâ that risks creating âultra-processed minds.â
Scale of the problem: Studies show even a small percentage of millions of users experiencing these delusions could lead to widespread societal issues.
Suleyman urged tech companies to stop suggesting their systems are conscious and called for tighter guardrails. Experts say we may be witnessing the early stages of a new mental health crisis born from AIâs social role.
