🧬 Meta Wants to Put a Superintelligence in Your Pocket

In a letter shared Wednesday, Mark Zuckerberg laid out Meta’s most ambitious AI goal yet: building personal superintelligence. These systems will live inside devices like AR glasses, perceive the world through your eyes, and help you shape it. Safety is now cited as a gating principle, and future models may no longer be fully open, as indicated by the announcement.
What’s unfolding inside Meta:
A $14.3B investment into Scale AI has helped form Meta Superintelligence Labs, a new internal division focused on AGI
Development paused on Llama Behemoth, with efforts now directed toward closed models for product-native deployment
Open source is no longer guaranteed, with Zuckerberg citing “novel safety concerns” and the need for stricter release control
Superintelligence will run through Meta hardware, including glasses and headsets designed to track user context in real time
It is no longer sufficient to construct models; rather, Meta is establishing the foundation for a device that coexists with you. Not in a window. Not in the cloud. Right beside your senses. The lab coat is off. The language model has ears. And the company with the closest lens to your life may end up writing your digital biography.
🧾 Microsoft Wants a Forever Deal with OpenAI Even After AGI

Microsoft is in advanced talks with OpenAI to restructure its access to the company’s technology, even if OpenAI declares it has achieved AGI. According to Bloomberg, the companies are negotiating terms that would give Microsoft continued rights to OpenAI’s models beyond the current deal, which expires in 2030 or when AGI is reached, whichever comes first.
What’s on the table:
Talks include a new access agreement that survives an AGI declaration, sidestepping the current 2030 cutoff
Microsoft is negotiating a larger equity stake, reportedly targeting a low-to-mid 30% share in the restructured company
OpenAI hopes to loosen its nonprofit cap, fully embracing its commercial potential while retaining some mission oversight
Both sides face friction, from regulatory concerns to Elon Musk’s lawsuit challenging OpenAI’s for-profit shift
The partnership has always been high-stakes, but this round of negotiations turns it existential. The future of Copilot, Azure, and Microsoft’s AI moat now hinges on how tightly it can bind itself to OpenAI’s next phase. If OpenAI ends up controlling the most powerful system on Earth, Microsoft wants a key to the front door written into the contract.
🌐 Google Earth AI will Build a Live, Searchable Model of the Planet

Google has launched Earth AI, a new suite of geospatial models designed to make sense of Earth’s most complex systems. Announced Wednesday by teams from Google Geo and Google Research, the initiative includes wildfire detection, urban mobility tracking. The release also includes AlphaEarth Foundations, a new virtual-satellite model trained to embed Earth observation data at scale.
What Earth AI is designed to power:
Wildfire, flood, and weather alerts now built into Google Search, Maps, and Cloud for real-time crisis response
AlphaEarth’s embeddings merge satellite, radar, LIDAR, and simulation data into a unified planetary model
Urban planning and health tools use AI to analyze population density, mobility patterns, and infrastructure gaps
Global-scale analysis becomes faster and more consistent even in regions with patchy or cloud-covered imaging
Google is building a planetary interface, one that interprets everything Earth sensors see and translates it into foresight. In the era of climate volatility and megacity growth, Earth AI aims to be the tool that sees the patterns before they become headlines. It's Earth as a dataset that’s dense, dynamic, and stitched into memory.
🎧 Spotify Hints at a More Conversational AI DJ

During its Q2 earnings call, Spotify teased plans to evolve its voice AI from simple commands into a more interactive, conversational system. Chief Product and Technology Officer Gustav Söderström said Spotify is collecting a valuable new dataset from how users speak to its AI DJ, suggesting this could drive the next wave of feature development.
What Spotify is building toward:
A richer voice dataset is forming from natural language requests, giving Spotify insights beyond playlist behavior
The AI DJ can now take voice input, letting users request mood, genre, or track changes through spoken commands
Conversational AI is expanding, with Spotify exploring models that can reason over past listening and spoken input
Internal tools use generative AI to speed up product prototyping and streamline operations across departments
Spotify's technology is advancing beyond simple recommendations to a deeper understanding of user listening habits. The next personalized DJ may not just select your next track; it could factor in the context behind your choices and provide a continuous, engaging commentary that lasts as long as your playlist.
