Welcome back! Apple’s new M5 chip feels like the moment when machines begin to think alongside us. Each Neural Accelerator inside its GPU cores works independently, creating a network of intelligence across the chip.

Apple calls it progress. It looks more like the beginning of an era where performance and perception share the same circuit.

Apple’s M5 is the Most Powerful AI Chip in Its History. But How Far Can It Really Go?

Apple has released the M5, a new system-on-a-chip built to make intelligence feel native to its devices. The chip uses a 3-nanometer process and introduces Neural Accelerators inside every GPU core, turning each one into a small engine for AI. It delivers 4x more GPU compute power than M4 and comes with a stronger CPU, a faster 16-core Neural Engine, and 30% higher unified memory bandwidth.

Inside the Upgrade
Ten neural-powered GPU cores that process image generation and language models with higher speed and stability.
A faster Neural Engine that improves performance in Apple Intelligence tools such as Image Playground and Writing Assist.
153GB/s unified memory that supports complex creative and AI workloads without delay or dependency on the cloud.
Sharper and smoother visuals on Vision Pro, with higher frame rates and improved rendering for immersive experiences.

The design focuses on letting the 14-inch MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, and Vision Pro run large models entirely on-device. The M5 shows how Apple is reshaping performance around awareness. Each generation moves computation closer to cognition, where power and intelligence share the same space. The chip is less an upgrade and more a step toward devices that think through the work they do.

Pew Survey Finds Global AI Anxiety Surpassing Optimism

A new Pew Research study shows that global attitudes toward AI are leaning toward caution. The survey covered more than 28,000 adults across 25 countries, revealing that unease about AI’s growing influence outweighs optimism in most regions.

What the Survey Shows
Half of respondents in the U.S., Italy, Australia, and Greece feel uneasy about the spread of AI, while Israel, South Korea, and Sweden report higher comfort levels.
Trust in regulators varies sharply, with 53% of respondents viewing the EU as credible on AI oversight compared to 37% for the U.S. and 27% for China.
Age divides run deep. Adults under 35 show more awareness and confidence in AI than those over 50, particularly in Southern Europe.
Exposure breeds tension. Nations most immersed in AI report the highest anxiety, suggesting familiarity may sharpen fears rather than ease them.

Pew’s findings cut through the optimism that often surrounds AI’s progress. Outside the tech bubble, many still see risk more clearly than reward. The global mood feels less like anticipation and more like collective hesitation, as people weigh the promise of smarter machines against the cost of living alongside them.

OpenAI Brings Black Hole Physicist Into Its Science Orbit

OpenAI has hired prize-winning theoretical physicist Alex Lupsasca as the first academic researcher in its new OpenAI for Science division. The initiative aims to merge advanced AI models with scientific reasoning, describing itself as “the next great scientific instrument.”

Inside the Initiative
A new kind of lab: OpenAI for Science will focus on AI-driven breakthroughs across math, physics, and biology, using GPT models as core research tools.
Lupsasca’s role: He will guide the company’s work on theoretical physics and collaborate with the academic community to refine how models reason through complex problems.
Early signs of potential: Lupsasca said GPT-5-Pro solved a physics problem in 30 minutes that once took him days.
Expanding ambition: OpenAI VP Kevin Weil said GPT-5 is already showing “limited novel research abilities,” hinting at AI’s growing creative range.

Lupsasca, known for his work on black holes, will continue teaching at Vanderbilt University while helping OpenAI train models for physics and mathematical discovery. OpenAI is morphing into an everything company that wants to take the AI lead in all aspects of our lives.

Deepika Padukone Joins Meta AI as the New Voice Across Six Countries

Deepika Padukone has a new role, and this time it’s inside your phone. Meta announced that her voice is now part of Meta AI, available across India, the U.S., the U.K., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. She posted the news herself, smiling through a quick video and saying, “Okay, so this is pretty cool.” It is cool, and also quietly surreal.

What This Change Reveals
Fame now has code. Deepika’s voice has been captured, trained, and replicated so it can talk to anyone at any time.
Charm becomes software. The warmth that made audiences listen is now a design choice that makes AI sound more human.
A constant presence. Her voice will live inside a machine that never sleeps, whispering answers long after she stops recording.
A new idea of stardom. When a voice can exist without the person, celebrity starts to stretch beyond the body that built it.

The voice that once filled cinemas will now speak through an algorithm. Deepika’s announcement might seem playful, but it hints at a future where recognition itself becomes digitized. The boundary between being known and being replicated is growing thin, and the familiar sound of a celebrity may soon belong as much to machines as to memory.
