📟 ChatGPT Agent Can Now Use a Virtual Computer to Work for You

OpenAI just launched a major upgrade to ChatGPT: a full-fledged agent that can plan, act, and finish complex tasks using its own virtual computer. The tool can now browse websites, interact with apps, generate presentations, run code, and more all based on a single prompt.

Here’s what’s rolling out:

  • ChatGPT Agent can now take action, using tools like a GUI browser, terminal, text-based search, and connectors to apps like Gmail or GitHub

  • The system runs on its own virtual computer, preserving context across tools while completing tasks end-to-end

  • Agent mode is available today for Pro, Plus, and Team users via the tools dropdown in any chat

  • OpenAI warns of risks, urging users to give minimal access and avoid high-stakes or sensitive tasks for now

This marks the debut of a unified “agentic” system that merges past capabilities like Operator and Deep Research, with powerful new skills for real-world workflows.. As it evolves, the real question is how fast this assistant moves from experimental helper to indispensable teammate and how the risks are managed along the way.

💂🏻‍♂️UK’s Most Powerful Supercomputer Switched On In Bristol

The UK has powered up Isambard-AI, a massive government-backed supercomputer built to accelerate national research and secure Britain's place in the global AI race. Located in Bristol, it’s now the 11th fastest computer in the world, pumping out 100,000x the power of your average laptop and it runs on zero-carbon energy.

Here’s what’s live inside Isambard-AI:

  • 5,400 Nvidia chips and a £1M/month energy bill driving medical and environmental breakthroughs

  • Real-world deployments include faster dementia diagnostics, skin cancer scans, and prostate cancer detection

  • Farm AI in action, with models trained on 24/7 footage to spot early illness and reduce methane

  • National access control, with ministers choosing projects for medicine, green tech, and public AI training

Isambard-AI is public infrastructure, clean-powered, and mission-focused part of a UK-wide effort to scale compute twentyfold by 2030. The goal: make Britain not just a consumer of AI, but a serious contender in its creation.

🛣️How Perplexity is Leveraging India in Its Competition with OpenAI

Perplexity is shifting gears in the AI race by going all-in on India, using the world’s largest internet market as a launchpad for growth. While OpenAI dominates in the U.S., Perplexity is turning to telecom deals, app integrations, and aggressive outreach to close the gap.

Here’s how they’re scaling in India:

  • Free for 360M Airtel users: Airtel signed an exclusive deal to give every subscriber a free year of Perplexity Pro, normally worth $200.

  • Explosive growth: India became Perplexity’s top market last quarter, with downloads up 600% and MAUs up 640%, outpacing ChatGPT’s growth by a wide margin.

  • App partnerships: Paytm, India’s fintech giant, added Perplexity’s AI search to its app, which sees 500M+ downloads and handles over $15B in UPI transactions monthly.

  • Still behind on revenue: Globally, Perplexity earned just $8M in Q2, compared to ChatGPT’s $773M, and hasn’t monetized Indian users yet.

India’s price-sensitive market makes turning scale into cash difficult, but Perplexity is playing a long game. By locking down exclusive deals and embedding itself in everyday apps, it’s setting the stage for dominance beyond Silicon Valley, if it can learn how to convert free users into paying ones.

Netflix has officially started using generative AI in its original content, with co-CEO Ted Sarandos confirming that “El Atonata” includes the company’s first-ever GenAI final footage. a building collapse scene produced in record time using AI tools.

Here’s where AI is already showing up:

  • AI-created VFX: The GenAI-powered destruction sequence in El Atonata was completed 10x faster and more cheaply than traditional methods.

  • Creator tools in action: Netflix says AI is now helping real teams with pre-visualization, shot planning, and complex VFX like de-aging

  • Platform-wide use: GenAI is also being used in personalization, search, and ads, with interactive AI-powered ads planned for late 2025.

  • Massive engagement: In H1 2025, users watched 95B hours of Netflix, with one-third of views from non-English titles

Netflix is treating GenAI as more than a cost-cutter. It's becoming a creative tool embedded across the pipeline from building collapses to ad targeting. What happens when studios stop testing AI and start trusting it?
