The first AI brain surgery worked
Rhys Hibbert, 48, was going blind. An 11mm tumor sat on his pituitary gland, in a spot where a millimeter mistake means blindness, stroke or death.
His surgeons at London's National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery brought in help that had never touched a live patient. An AI, trained at UCL on hundreds of surgical videos, watched the camera feed and colored the danger in real time, this is a nerve, that's a vessel, cut neither.
It was the first AI-assisted brain tumor removal ever. It happened in May, and the hospital sat on the news until Thursday while he recovered.
He walked out without glasses within a week. He says he sees like he's got a 360-degree panoramic view.

Claude gets a body
Anthropic has enabled AI agents to run microscopes, robotic arms and lab machines. Giving them bodies to interact with the physical world.
The new standard is called MHS, and it kills the worst part of lab work. Hooking up hardware that normally takes weeks now takes hours.
Claude aligned a laser the way a new grad student would, nudge, check the camera, nudge again. Then it wrote what it learned into a script, and now the whole alignment runs as one command. It learned the skill, then automated itself out of it.
Carnegie Mellon already runs drug experiments three times faster this way. Anthropic plans to open source the standard.
116 companies signed the same warning
The companies that disagree on everything just agreed we need to act fast as they're anticipating huge risks.
OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Microsoft published an open letter with CrowdStrike, Cloudflare and 100+ others.
It says AI attacks become far more widespread and sophisticated within months, and the targets it names are hospitals, water plants and the infrastructure that powers the internet.
The window to prepare is months, not years. And it comes one day after OpenAI called its own Hugging Face breach a warning shot.
Sam Altman says he doesn't care if you build with OpenAI or a competitor.

ChatGPT's disposable chats can now be saved
Ever had a temporary chat you wanted to keep? The ones that you keep talking to AI for 20 minutes and it becomes too valuable to delete.
You didn't have the option to save it, but now you do.
A temporary chat can also use your memories, custom instructions and plugins now, so it knows you while staying off the record.
Nothing else changed. Temporary chats still create no new memories and stay out of your sidebar unless you save one.
